About the Building
Howard Rehearsal Studios are located above Lost Eras Antique store in the historic Howard Street Building. This building was once a Speak-Easy under the control of Al Capone himself. It was known as "Club Detour" which operated during the Prohibition era. Famous musicians of the time, including Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald have played on the stage that is still visible in the Lost Eras portion of the building. This is why we boast that the building itself is rich in musical and entertainment history. The rehearsal facilities are an ambient and original antique office setting with skylights in the lounge area.
About the Rooms
The rooms themselves are formerly office spaces from the great depression era. The rooms come in various sizes and layouts and are subject to availability. We DO have rooms available most of the time, but there is a waiting list for some of our larger rooms that are in high demand. Some of the greatest names from Chicago's music scene have passed through these doors.
